My name is Amanda Steinman and I have been a teacher at Freemantle Academy for over 15 years. I am a qualified Forest School Leader and run sessions for the children in our 'secret garden' where the children can engage in all sorts of activities such playing in our mud kitchen, hunting for minibeasts and cooking around a fire!
The nursery is my favourite place to work in the academy because we have a fantastic staff team, amazing children, lovely big rooms with lots of engaging resources, our own EYFS garden and a curriculum which follows the needs and interests of the children.
Hello my name is Dawn Garland and I am the lead practitioner here at Freemantle nursery. I have many years of experience in providing the highest level of care in all aspects of children’s learning and development. I feel privileged to be part of a team that strive to provide a child-centred nurturing environment, offering creative inspiring activities and experiences to enable children as individuals to reach their full potential. Having lived in the local area for the past twenty years I have a good understanding of the diversity of the community and work closely with families to best support them and the needs of their children. I am also a mum of two young adults who, as children, were fortunate enough to attend this wonderful nursery/school giving them a great start in life. I am passionate in supporting children to become happy, confident, independent and life long learners.
Hi, I am Connie Allen. I am married with 2 children. I have travelled and worked in the education sector for 13 years and have been fortunate to work in primary schools in both Cyprus and Germany. I have worked at Freemantle Academy for 6 years now, am a highly skilled practitioner and am proud to call myself a member of the caring and nurturing nursery team. We promote creativity through fun activities and encourage the children to develop through exploration whilst also developing their independence.
Hello, I am Zak Leigh. I have just completed my modern apprenticeship here at Freemantle Nursery earning a Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) (QCF). I have been a member of the nursery team for over a year and have gained valuable experience through learning from the other practitioners in the setting.
In the future I have aspirations to become a primary school teacher with Freemantle nursery and the academy as a whole being extremely supportive of this. They have allowed me to gain experience with working with children across all year groups in the academy.
Hello, my name is Hannah Jewell, I am currently doing my modern apprenticeship at Freemantle. I am working towards my NVQ3 in early years educator. I have always wanted to work in the childcare setting as myself and my family have been doing fostering for the past 8 years. I have always been around children and helping children grow from such a young age. I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of the Freemantle nursery team. I really enjoy every moment with the children and helping them grow and caring for them. We believe that as a nursery, children learn through play and therefore we provide exciting activities and games for all children which I love being part of and joining in. Freemantle nursery
for me feels very homely for myself and the children.
I am very excited to see what the future brings in nursery!
