Parents and Carers, many thanks to all parents who continue to wear face coverings and leaving the site so promptly, it really is appreciated; if we all work together we can beat this virus. Covid is now peaking at Freemantle in the school community so please be vigilant and supportive.

Welcome to Freemantle - New Parents Hub

Welcome To Freemantle

What a year it has been! During a normal academic year we would hold a number of events at the academy to give you and your child a chance to see what life is like at Freemantle. With everything that has happened this year that course of action has not been possible, so we have created this page on our website as a hub for all the information you'll need about starting at Freemantle.

We will be uploading videos, pictures and information throughout the coming weeks with everything we feel that you, new parents, may need.

Please keep checking back as we will be adding new content regularly. Feel free to contact

We continue to get things ready so we can have all of our wonderful children back safely from Thursday 2nd September (please note Nursery and Reception parents will receive an additional letter outlining transition arrangements and start dates). This following is based on the information we have at present, and subject to any further covid restrictions.

We will continue to modify our risk benefit statement and adjust this as required, but hope we can get back to some level of ‘normality’ whatever the new normal is!

There are some things we NEED you to read very carefully and help us with to keep the children and staff safe; please see below;

Beginning and end of the academy day- (There will be signs at the Mansion Road entrance to help you all).

We will continue with the longer school day next year to help our children ’catch-up’ on lost studies during the covid lockdowns.

  • All pupils (and parents) will enter via Mansion Road, and leave via Paynes Road or Waterloo Road for the start and finish of the day. This will keep a ’one-way’ flow system.

Start of the day.

  • Your child needs to be at the Mansion Road gate at the following opening times;
    • Year 6 and Year 5              - 08.25                                   Lessons start immediately

    • Year 2 and Year 1              - 08.35                                   Lessons start immediately
    • Year R                                   - 08.40                                   Lessons start immediately
    • Nursery                                - 08.45   (or other depending on session) Lessons start immediately

  • Parents for Nursery, Year R and Year 1 are welcome to come on site to ‘drop’ their children at the building door.
  • Parents for Year’s 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will NOT need to come into the school grounds.

End of the day.

  • Your children will be at the class doors at the following collection times;
    • Year 6 and Year 5              - 3.10 pm
    • Year 4 and Year 3              - 3.15 pm
    • Year 2 and Year 1              - 3.20 pm
    • Year R                                   - 3.20 pm
    • Nursery                                - 2.45 or 3.15 (depending on session)

  • All parents are welcome on site to collect their children at the end of the day, please leave the site promptly via Paynes Road or Waterloo Road.

UNIFORM- we hope things will be back to normal, so we encourage all of our pupils to attend in school uniform or school colours.

COATS- please ensure your child is dressed for the prevailing weather conditions. A coat is essential as pupils will go out to play every day unless the weather is too inclement.

PE KITS- should be brought into school from 2nd September, they should then be taken home at the end of each week for washing, unless in Reception where children should come to school wearing PE kit on PE days as directed by the teachers.

  1. There is no difference in quality between Fairtrade cotton and normal cotton, but Fairtrade cotton farmers always receive a fair and sustainable payment for their crop. Their communities also receive a premium for projects such as building schools, hospitals, access to clean water and so on.

  1. Being “Fairtrade Cotton Certified” means that all parts of the manufacturing chain have been inspected and audited to ensure that practices such as child labour and enforced overtime/long working hours don’t exist.

  1. All the polyester in Koolskools-manufactured garments is GRS-certified, the highest recycled polyester clothing standard. The polyester is post-consumer (eg recycled plastic bottles etc) recycled, lending the garments the strongest of planet-friendly credentials.
