Pupil Leadership Team

We are proud to have had a Pupil Leadership Team at Freemantle since July 2022. Each summer term, we talk with our Year 5 pupils about what it means to be a good leader and encourage them to think about the skills they can bring to the role. Children are then invited to apply for different leadership positions, and everyone across the academy has the chance to vote for their future leaders. This makes sure that pupil voice really shapes our Leadership Team. The headteacher and staff also take time to read every application carefully and hold group interviews with those who put themselves forward. Together, this process helps us choose a team of confident, caring and responsible pupils, ready to represent their peers and make a positive difference across our school.

The pupil leadership team meet weekly to discuss how they will lead our weekly 'Celebration Assembly'. They have been inspirational in leading weekly positive affirmations - which they believe to be important in the promotion of positive mental health. Where possible they introduce new initiatives to support pupil welfare such as posters to help children think about the impact of things they say to each other. They compose a weekly prayer and also encourage children to share their successes outside of the school environment.
