Oracy

Oracy is the ability to articulate ideas, develop understanding and engage with others through spoken language.

In lower school, we believe spoken language to be essential in the development and achievement of our children across the curriculum.

We strive to develop spoken language skills through the curriculum, providing specific opportunities for pupils to engage in role play, drama, discussion and the explicit teaching of vocabulary.

Within the learning journey for English, there are dedicated slots to develop and apply oracy skills prior to subsequent written work. Pupils are encouraged and their are opportunities for oral rehearsal so that pupils embed the correct patterns of language.
