  • Online Safety

At Freemantle Church of England Community Academy, we believe that keeping children safe online is an important part of school life. We help pupils develop the knowledge and confidence they need to use the internet, games, apps and devices safely and responsibly inside and outside the academy.

Within our Freemantle Curriculum, online safety education is presented through a variety of different topics and subjects, such as protecting personal information, recognising inappropriate or upsetting content, being respectful online, and knowing what to do if something makes them feel uncomfortable.

We encourage our children to speak to a trusted adult either at home or in school if they experience anything that worries or upsets them online. We also encourage continuous dialogue, between parents and carers and children about their experiences online.

On this page, you will find useful advice and resources to help you support your children in staying safe, confident and responsible online:

    Digital Leaders

Our Digital Leaders at Freemantle are four Year 6 pupils, who support the IT lead with digital technology in the academy. This includes assisting the Pupil Leaders and Headteacher in leading assemblies, as well as delivering their own, around online safety.

As an academy we think about Online Safety and consider it as part of our practice. We do highlight this in particular on Safer Internet Day, which next takes place on Tuesday 9th February 2027. This gives us, as an academy the chance to celebrate our successes around online safety and think about how we can continue being safe online into the future.
