We continue to be amazed at how well the children have settled, well done to all our fab pupils. As restrictions lift nationally, the academy will also look to 'ease' some areas. This will be done in a careful and progamatic way. We will not put pupils and staff at risk. The academy will remain vigilant, and we ask that parents do the same and support us to continue to get things back on 'an even keel'. As the children are settled, we will now be implementing the LA and national guidance on absence and lateness......thank you for your support in getting the children to school and on time, it helps them to settle in the morning and helps us to support their learning.

Able writers meed David Gatward

On Monday, seven of us from Year 5 and 6 were invited to an able writers’ workshop at a local school. The workshop was led by a children’s author called David Gatward, who writes horror books.

David gave us lots of activities to make our minds more creative and he also gave us some original ideas to help with planning. First, we used nine story cubes and tried to make our own stories using only the pictures on the cubes. Next, David put a doll in front of us and we needed to think of some adjectives to describe the doll. We thought the doll was disembodied, disturbing and sinister! Then we made a story about the doll. In the afternoon, we drew characters on our hands. We wrote a story about the character with each sentence starting with the next letter of the alphabet. Some of this found this activity quite tricky, but one of us got all the way to x!!!
