  • Personal Development

At Freemantle Academy, personal development is an important part of every child’s education. Through a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum, we provide opportunities for children to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

Personal development is woven throughout our curriculum and is particularly strengthened through subjects such as Personal Social Health and Economic Education (PSHE), RHSE, Religious Education, Physical Education and English. Children are encouraged to understand and respect others, make positive choices and develop confidence in expressing their thoughts and ideas.

    Enrichment

At the academy, we also provide a variety of ways for children to develop personally outside the academy's curriculum. Examples of how this can be achieved are through taking on a role in the academy, such as through becoming a Mental Health Champion, Eco Warrior, or a member of our Pupil Leadership Team (Y6). The roles help children to develop their knowledge and confidence in certain areas, such as through leading assemblies and engaging in training with school staff and outside agencies. See the relevant pages on our site to find out more about these roles.

We also offer enrichment clubs that focus on a variety of different areas for personal development. Current and previous offerings include a French club, cross-stitch club, board games club and science club. Offering both lesson based and more creative and expressive activities. To find out what clubs and enrichment we are currently running then please visit our Enrichment page or speak to our admin team.
